ACT Government Invests in Girls’ Mental Health Through Fearless Women

Fearless Women was awarded funding in the 2025–26 ACT Budget. ACT Treasurer Chris Steel MLA announced a commitment of $772,000 over the next two years, enabling Fearless Women to continue delivering its vital mental health and wellbeing programs.

“This funding ensures our doors remain open to the hundreds of girls and young women across the ACT who rely on us,” said Fearless Women CEO Glenda Stevens. “It allows us to keep making a real difference in their lives.”

Fearless Women’s programs are designed to equip young women with the courage and tools they need to not just survive… but thrive.

Since launching its two-year mentoring program and Fearless Future school education sessions in 2022, the organisation has added early intervention workshops like Let’s Talk About… and Fearless Together, along with one-on-one counselling support. Currently, 89 girls are matched with female volunteer mentors, while 27 have graduated and another 220 remain on the waitlist.

Following the funding announcement Minister Rachel Stephen-Smith MLA, Minister for Health and Minister for Mental Health visited Fearless Women. During the visit Minster Stephen-Smith said “I want to thank Fearless Women for their tireless advocacy and leadership,” said Minister Stephen-Smith said “Together, we are building a future where every young woman in the ACT feels seen, supported, and empowered to thrive.”
